Model | Artist | Photographer | Entrepreneur | Activist

Meet Mahala; a model, artist, photographer, entrepreneur, and activist.

Hi, I am Mahala Preudhomme.

So believe it or not, I never thought I would be here as a model. I have been 5’10” since high school and have been told I should model my whole life. I’m not saying that to brag, I’m saying it to further express that I can’t believe at 26 I have made it this far in the industry as a plus size model and love it. I

I started my adulthood as an artist/painter. When I was 19 I moved from the small city I grew up in across to the United States to Los Angeles. My roommate at the time was a full time actress and I was a full time artist. The second I moved there she rented out a studio in DTLA and had me body paint and photograph her on her $200 Nikon. Later that day she told me to hop in for some pictures. I was shaking the whole time.

As time progressed I was always helping her on set and soon bought my camera and became a photographer. I grew a love for capturing faces and movement through my photography and started directing models more and more as I shot. Within 2 years of owning my camera and becoming well known in the photography community and my friends had me modeling for them often.

Modeling helped gain my confidence. In 2019 I was my heaviest weight and due to modeling and the community I had entered into I didn’t care. I loved myself even more than ever and started posting body positive content with photographers. Come, 2021 and here I am as an upcoming world-known plus size model.

In 2021 I became signed with Directions USA and received recognition for Kim Kardashians Brand Skims and Lizzo’s team. In 2021 I also signed with Directions USA, in North Carolina, and signed with IMG Worldwide- the number one agency in the world. I left IMG in 2022 and am now signed with Wilhelmina Models.

I love modeling more than anything I have ever done. The process of capturing an audience with my body language and eyes is a surreal feeling.

"I never knew that photographs of myself could have such an impact on people's lives. Being a plus size model allows me to represent for women who look like me. I was always bigger and taller than everyone around me. Now I get respected for being that, it's a pretty amazing feeling".- Mahala
